Glazed Extension to A Historic Building
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
This splendid historic building in Swanage, Dorset, was until not many years ago a nunnery.
My two children’s’ school “Christ The King” used to visit once a year and after enjoying a Punch & Judy Show on the Swanage beach, followed by tea and games in the nunnery gardens. The other day we uncovered some lovely pictures of the children playing ring-a-ring-a roses in the garden with the nuns.
We were delighted to be chosen for complete replacement of the Timber Southern Elevation and Glazing together with a specially designed stone cills.
Selected Hardwood was used, all of which had been treated for the latest Hi-Tec Anti Fungicidal Primer, followed by treatments with the extremely durable Teknos Micro Porous White Gloss Paint. This was chosen to withstand the passage of time in very vulnerable coastal areas facing due South.
The historic building is a very successfully managed family hotel and the conservatory is used for numerous functions, the gardens are absolutely splendid and would have originally been created by the nuns. My wife and I regularly visit the wonderful Purbeck Hills as do many of our friends who have viewed our craftsmanship, plus people we have recommended to visit and many favourable comments.
It will be seen that the structure has a lead lined roof which was very heavy, appropriate structural support was introduced during reconstruction. was carried out.
I would thoroughly recommend a visit to this splendid hotel and restaurant and it will also provide an opportunity to view the quality of our workmanship.
